A postdoctoral research fellow position is available within the PARIS high resolution retinal imaging group at the Quinze Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital and Vision Institute in Paris, France. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to use adaptive optics ophthalmoscopy (AOO) and optical coherence tomography to conduct visual optics research in a clinical ophthalmology setting. The postdoc will work with a team of clinicians, engineers and scientists to develop, adapt and apply novel AOO modalities to imaging retinal disease in the context of a multi-centric project funded by the European Research Council (ERC), involving renowned partners expert in high resolution retinal imaging technology and clinical application across Europe.
Applicants with strong experience in optics, visual optics, and imaging are desirable. Salary is commensurate with the ERC scale.
The candidate should have a PhD in biomedical engineering, optics, or a related field of research. Experience with digital image acquisition and processing (Matlab) is desirable, as is experience working in a clinical environment. Organizational skills, strong writing and oral communication skills, and database management abilities will be needed. The candidate should have demonstrated innovation, initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to work well independently and with team members. Working language will be English or French.
The post is open immediately for 18 months in the first instance with a possibility of extension onto subsequent projects.
